I AM
(10/1/2001)

By Shamequa Ellison

Love came to me like a stranger in the dark. It touched me and startled me; when i saw it i closed my heart. I told love, "Leave me; i don't want you here." It said, "Follow me, I'll make your paths clear." My torment said, "No i dare not. Go away love; Your not welcome here."

So I asked, "Can we just be friends?" It replied, "Yes." As friends my heart will never be broken again. So love and I shared for a while. Love said, "This is stagnation; we are going nowhere child. I'm tired of being desolate, i want a movement now!" So a "NO." bellowed out my mouth That emotion love went flying south.

But for that reason, love was just determined. Preaching here, teaching there, giving me revelational lectures everywhere. Love sparked so much for my favor. I asked Love, "Are you suppoesed to act like this?"

Love replied my heart and joy, those i do miss. Many are called, few are chosen. My thoughts of you are as the grains of sands and love stood and said, "I AM. Even now i call you my child. I will ask again will you follow me, child?"

The Preservation of Friendship

One who pricks the eye brings tears, and one who pricks the heart makes clear its feelings. One who throws a stone at bird scares them away, and one who reviles a friend destroys a friendship.

Even if you draw your sword against a friend, do not despair, for there is a way back. If you open your mouth against your friend, do not worry, for reconciliation is possible. But as for reviling, arrogance, disclosure of secrets, or a treacherous blow- in these cases any friend will take to flight.

Gain the trust of your neighbor in his poverty, so that you may rejoice with him in his prosperity. Stand by him in time of distress, so that you may share with him in his inheritance. For one should not always despise restricted circumstances, or admire a rich person who is stupid.

The vapor and smoke of the furnace precede the fire; so insults precede bloodshed.

I am not ashamed to shelter a friend, and I will not hide from him. But if harm should come to me because of him, whoever hears of it will beware of him.
