SECLUSION AND SILENCE DRILLS (Drill #3)
(4/3/2001)
The Bible states: "Sanctify ye a fast, call a solemn assembly" (Joel 1:14) Place this verse before you, and drill yourself in seclusion.
What is meant by seclusion is being in seclusion with God, for there are those who isolate themselves at home doing no spiritual work.
This is not seclusion which should actually be indulgence in spiritual work taht you do with your bedreeom door closed upon you with God. You seclude yourself withthe Bible, with the biography of the saints, with prostratiuon, and with prayer. If you have a spiritual schedual, you will love seclusion.
If you cannot be in seclusion throughout the fast, then there are easier solutions: Use the drill of "some closed days". That means that you specify certain days during which you do not leave home. If you cannot close your doors during a fast, then at least close your mouths against sinful talk.
